Out of curiosity, customers will ask when Bill and John started their business. Blair Brothers Goldsmiths officially opened its doors in July of 2004. In reality, they were born businessmen. Their entrepreneurial spirit seems innate. Family and friends enjoy telling stories of how driven and creative they were from the time they were kids. They worked hard to create a demand for what they were making (and then selling). They’ve graduated from making wooden trivets with extra construction materials to handcrafted jewelry that anyone would love to own. Signing a lease for their space in Oaks Plaza was the first step of a long journey. Their new workspace is a far cry from the workshop they set up in their grandmother’s Cogan Station basement. It served its purpose for filling many Christmas orders in 2003, but more room was needed. Working closely with skilled craftsmen from the area, their dream showroom slowly became a reality. Walking in to the store evokes a sense of quality and elegance. The attention paid to the details of the showroom is your first indication that the quality of the jewelry is second to none. Bill and John insist on using only the highest quality metal and stones for their creations. They spend time traveling all over the United States and Africa to ensure they locate the best materials for their customers. They have built lasting relationships with world renowned stone cutters and reliable, trustworthy diamond suppliers.

The brothers listen carefully to the needs and desires of their customers and build unique pieces to suit their personalities. The designs are both exquisite and wearable. Bill and John enjoy working with their hands and traveling the world, but they also make endless sacrifices to ensure the success of their business. Certainly they need to earn a living, but the driving force behind their effort is people. Highest on their list of priorities is cultivating relationships. It’s the people in the community that they bend over backwards for and with whom they are very generous. The business acquaintances and friends they make on their travels and the mentors and role models they have been fortunate enough to learn from are what bring them the most gratification. Because they grew up in Williamsport there is a never ending parade of friends, neighbors, and old teachers who come in to support them in their endeavors. Stop in and see what sets this business apart from others. |
